Piyush Goyal, the Indian minister in charge of Commerce and Industry has annouced AI based Trademark Search technology which will be powered by ML also. He also launched IP Saarthi Chatbot.
Getting clearance for your trademark can be bit tedious in a country like India. The AI based technology will enable faster clearances of the applications, as per the minister who launched the technology at New Delhi on 18th September.
The IP Chatbot Saarthi, a generative AI bot will provide instant assistance to people who are looking to legally protect their property with IP registration process.
“What we have seen over the years is that the number of queries and grievances which were getting reported were very high. An analysis of these supposed grievances led us to understand that this is actually a mix of enquiries as well as grievances. And therefore, to address the enquiries, it was felt that an FAQ and an AI enabled chatbot would be very good to help people navigate the complexities of the IP system and hence the unveiling of the IP chatbot today known as IP Saarthi.” the announcement said during the inauguration of the services.
As per the information mentioned in the official video, the IP Office of India handled a mamooth 4.6 lakhs IP applications.
With the help of AI, issues such as Similar names, Phonetic similarities, Delay in databases and Motion marks are likely to be tackled in a speedy manner enabling faster process of trademark applications in 2023.
The minister also stated that the Indian Government is also looking to incorporate AI in order to inspect the submitted design so that the time for clearance gets shorter.
