Earlier in the month of August, Google quietely restarted its Text to Image AI tool on its website aitestkitchen.withgoogle.com. Remember the time google debut this tool in February of 2024, it received massive backlash as it portrayed wrong historical figures and even racially biased images.
Google after course correction from February backlash has now made the tool available by the name of ImageFX but not worldwide.
“With Imagen 3, we’ve made significant progress in providing a better user experience when generating images of people,” Dave Citron, a Google senior director, wrote in a blog post. The service will be set not to depict photorealistic images of public figures, minors or violent imagery, he said further.
The other tool which may become flagship model later on is the VideoFX which is text to video converter just like the OpenAI’s Sora and Hotshot’s AI feature. However, VideoFX is only available to few trusted testers in the United States.
We tested ImageFX on the website https://imagefx.art/. The first thing we realized that the Imagen 3 model has the capability to enhance the prompt.
Original Prompt : – “Original prompt: Show an image where a cute dog is standing by lake and peeing on it”
However, the Imagen 3 took to another level to understand it better. Below is the enhanced prompt that Imagine 3 did.
Imagen 3 Enhanced Prompt : – “A playful and endearing scene: A small, fluffy, and curious canine stands at the waterside of a serene, calm, and crystal-clear lake, its petite legs slightly parted as it lets out a tiny stream of golden urine onto the rippled surface of the water, creating a subtle splash and ripples, amidst lush greenery and soft shadows, capturing the tranquil atmosphere of a perfect summer afternoon.”
However, it is important to note about the above product i.e. website imagefx.art that we are not sure about the authenticity that it indeeds belongs to Google only. They claim to be utilizing the Imagin 3 engine and have listed the pricing at $7.92 per month for 300 credits. We advise caution to users to buy their subscription thinking that the product belongs to Google.
Sundar Pichai’s stake on the line with Gemini AI’s ImageFX
Voices from prominent figures erupted in the Tech industry against Sundar Pichai for the fiasco of Gemini’s AI of Text to Image converter. Prominent Analysts like Ben Thompson and Mark Shmulik had suggested the removal of Sundar Pichai from the top post. Even the founder and CEO of Perplexity suggested that the Internet search giant may need a new leader.
Under Pichali’s leadership Google has risen to new heights with a market cap now close to $1.7 trillion from $400 billion in 2015 when Pichai took over as the CEO of Google
Future of Image Creation Jobs
To say that Image creators across the world are at risk of losing their job due to ChatGpt’s DALLE feature would be an understatement. Their demand lies in their ability to produce creativity from scratch. Now with Imagen 3 engine and other AI tools racing up for text to image generation, the workforce for graphic designers may shrink considerably in the coming years.
